Netanyahu: Israel to advance Jerusalem building project to 'compensate' for Palestinian prisoner release

Israel was planning multiple building projects in Jerusalem as "compensation" for the overnight release of 26 Palestinian prisoners to the West Bank and Gaza, Israeli media cited Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as saying shortly after the move in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Netanyahu said the government planned to construct 1,500 additional housing units over the Green Line in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo. In addition, he said the expansion of existing housing units would be approved.
Approval was reportedly received for the establishment of a visitor's center, called Mercaz Kedem, at the City of David National Park in Silwan.
According to the report, the premier also said plans would be advanced for the previously-halted construction of a national park on the slopes of Mount Scopus, which would allegedly block the expansion of Arab neighborhoods in the area.
