Netanyahu meets with general for first time after controversial speech

Deputy Chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan’s Holocaust speech is “behind us,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday at the annual pre-Independence Day Toast with the general staff in tel Aviv.
“I see this as a one-time event, and from here we all move forward together,” the premier said. A day earlier Netanyahu slammed Golan for comments he made on Holocaust Remembrance Day suggesting certain parallels between what happened in Nazi Germany and developments in Israel today.
