Netanyahu, new Egyptian ambassador to Israel meet in Knesset

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday met with newly appointed Egyptian Ambassador to Israel Hazem Khairat in the Knesset, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office.
The two discussed how to strengthen Israeli-Egyptian relations and the peace process concerning the Palestinian people, the statement added.
President Rueven Rivlin met with Khairat earlier in the week when the ambassador presented his credentials at the President's Residence.
In greeting Khairat, Rivlin said: “I welcome many ambassadors. This is a very special opportunity for me to receive a letter of credence from a special country and our largest and most important neighbor.”
