Netanyahu: Release Pollard regardless of new US spy allegations

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Jonathan Pollard should be released from US prison without any connection to this weekend's spying scandal. "We discuss this issue with every American president, also with Obama, and also now," Israel Radio reported.
At a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, Netanyahu stressed that Israel does not need a new event or excuse to demand the release of Pollard, referring to the recent allegations against the US that they have been spying on Israel.
His comments bring hope that efforts to have Pollard released will be renewed.
