New commander announced to replace district police chief who resigned last month in scandal

Assistant-Chief Moti Cohen will take over as commander of the Central District of the Israel Police, it was announced Monday, less than a month after the former commander resigned amid a highly-publicized scandal.
Cohen replaces Asst.- Ch. Bruno Stein, who resigned in September following a Haaretz article claiming he was seen at a private party at the home of attorney Ronel Fisher, currently under investigation for bribing police officials to drop charges against him.
The Haaretz report stated that Stein and Fisher sat next to each other at the party while nursing drinks.
Police on Monday also announced that Asst.-Chief Moshe “Chico” Edri, a former officer in the National Police Headquarters and the Traffic Police, will take over as head of the Jerusalem District, in place of Commander Asst.-Ch. Yossi Pariente.
