New Fathers in Israel get a week's paternity leave

Employers will be required to allow fathers to take a week off of work after a child is born, after the Knesset passed a law to that effect Monday.
Meretz MK Tamar Zandberg and others proposed the policy, by which fathers have an option of using three vacation days and two paid sick days.
Zandberg said the new law encourages fathers to take an active role in parenting, something that the government and society have an interest in.
