New mother found dead in hospital bathroom after delivering sixth child

A 38-year-old haredi woman who gave birth to her sixth child at Bnei Brak’s Ma’ayanei Hayeshua Medical Center this week, was found dead in the bathroom attached to her room in the obstetrics department on Thursday.

Hospital director-general Prof. Motti Ravid said she had a normal pregnancy and delivery but felt somewhat unwell afterwards, leading doctors to keep her another day. The hospital reported the tragedy to the Health Ministry, which is investigating. The cause of death was not known, but a blood clot or an amniotic fluid embolism, which cannot be prevented, was the likely cause, the hospital said.
