New scholarship to promote Israeli industry

A new joint initiative of the National Union of Israeli Students and the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry aims to promote Israeli industry and the consumption of locally produced goods through scholarship grants to students.
The initiative, called “Students for Blue and White Consumption,” will “support the creation of new jobs in Israel” and is set to begin on Thursday, student union spokeswoman Hagar Israeli told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.
Students who are selected in the project’s pilot phase, which will run during the second semester of the current academic year, will be required to engage in public relations activities to promote the consumption of Israeli goods and the importance of local manufacture in order to receive their scholarships.
“The project focuses on students who will create and manage different activities, such as information stands in campuses, courses and lectures for teenagers in youth movements and community centers around the country,” Israeli said.
“The importance of this project is great mainly because… it leads to more jobs for Israelis, which eventually promotes education,” student union chairman Ori Reshtik said.
