The head of the Interior Ministry's Population Administration, Yaakov Ganot, is set to announce new steps aimed at deporting migrant workers who are in Israel illegally, Channel 1 said on Thursday.
The steps include paying for the workers' flight home, and giving families with children until August before ejecting them from the country. Illegal workers with children will be ejected without delay from August onwards, according to the plan.
On July 1, officers from the newly formed Oz unit of the National Immigration Authority began work to identify and deport illegal migrant workers.
The head of the Oz Unit, Tziki Sela, said his officers received special training on how to deal with the foreign workers in a sensitive and humane manner, while at the same time vowing to deport "many" illegal workers.
