New Year buses to run until 4 a.m.

On New Year’s Eve this Thursday night, special public transportation routes will operate until 4 a.m. in about 90 local authorities from North to South, the Transportation Ministry announced this week. By extending the hours of available night buses, the hope is to discourage drunk driving through a safe and economical alternative, at the price of a normal bus ticket, the ministry said.

Throughout the night, National Traffic Police and National Road Safety Authority teams will be visiting major entertainment hubs throughout the country to reiterate the dangers of drunk driving, the ministry added. These teams will also distribute coffee to revelers, and direct them to the nearest night bus stations.
