Newspaper 'Maariv' to stop printing daily in near future

Israeli newspaper Maariv will stop printing a daily version in the near future, editor-in-chief Nir Hefetz told Army Radio on Sunday.

As a result of the economic difficulties which have plagued the paper for years, Maariv will be minimizing its operations to include only an internet version of the paper and an iPad application.

"We've been looking at the digital direction for a number of months and it's all just a matter of timing," Hefetz told Army radio, adding, "If we won't have any oxygen, we will be forced to make the move quickly."
