NGO to IDF: Don't demolish Susiya before High Court hearing

B'tselem and Rabbis for Human Rights announced that the lawyer for the Khirbet Susiya village sent a letter on Thursday to the IDF requesting it delay any demolitions of portions of the town until an impending High Court of Justice hearing on August 3.
Earlier in the week, the village residents met with high-ranking officials from COGAT, the Civil Administration, and the army, where, according to B'tselem, the officials stated that pressure the NGO Regavim and local settlers led to a decision to carry out demolitions in the village even before the hearing.
Attorney Qamar Mashraki from Rabbis for Human Rights said that this kind of thinly veiled threat to demolish homes in Susiya before the planned court hearing is an "unacceptable form of coercion, intended to put pressure on the residents in order to force them to leave their homes and create facts on the ground before the petition" to block the demolitions is even heard.
