The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday reported that no Israelis have been reported injured or missing following the tsunami that hit the coasts of the South Pacific on Tuesday.
Ministry spokesman Yossi Levi said the ministry has set up a situation room operating out of the Israeli embassy in Canberra, but so far has not received any reports of missing persons or information regarding Israeli casualties or injuries.
The massive tsunami hurled by a powerful earthquake flattened Samoan villages and swept cars and people out to sea, killing at least 99 and leaving dozens missing Wednesday. The toll was expected to rise.
