Obama: American troops won't return to Iraq, Iraqis must bridge differences

A statement released by the White House on its twitter account quoted US President Barack Obama as saying that, "American combat troops will not be returning to fight in Iraq...ultimately it’s up to Iraqis to bridge their differences."

The statement comes after the Islamic State Islamist group has made major gains in Iraq and Syria wrecking havoc and routing the Iraqi army.

The organization, a splinter group of al-Qaida has been responsible for the gruesome killing of minorities and prisoners including an American journalist last week in retaliation for US airstrikes on IS positions.
