Obama raises more than $60m. in May, campaign says

WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama raised more than $60 million in May, mostly from small donations, his campaign said on Thursday.
That is a sharp increase from April, when the president's re-election effort raised $43.6 million, a decrease from the previous month.
In May, more than 572,000 people contributed to the Obama campaign and Democratic groups affiliated with it, and more than 147,000 of them were first-time donors, the president's campaign said in a series of posts on Twitter.
Obama's team said 98 percent of donations last month were for less than $250, according to the posts on the social media website. The average donation was $54.94, it added.
