Obama shares concern for children of Israel

US President Barack Obama spoke at the residence of President Shimon Peres Wednesday as part of his Middle East visit, stressing the strong bond between Israel and the United States, and sharing his concern for the children of Israel.
He said during his speech that their "dreams are much the same as children everywhere," including his own children and the children of America. He added that he hopes Israeli children will find a future safe from threats and rockets, and that they will have an opportunity for "security, peace and prosperity."
Obama acknowledged difficulties facing Israel including Iran's nuclear program, peace between Israelis and Palestinians, adding that "the State of Israel has no greater friend than the US."
Obama thanked Peres for his consistent "charm and hospitality," both personal and from Israel as a whole. The two presidents commenced the meeting with the planting of a tree brought from the US, emphasizing the flourishing relationship between the two nations.
