US Mideast envoy George Mitchell conveyed to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in their meeting Sunday that US President Barack Obama would be presenting his own Middle East plan within the next two months, a senior Palestinian official told the London-based Arabic daily Al-Hayat on Wednesday.
According to the official, Obama is waiting on Mitchell's report after completing his trip to the region.
On Tuesday, The Jerusalem Post reported that talks with Mitchell had left Israeli officials with the impression that - contrary to expectations in some circles - Obama is not going to unfurl his own regional peace plan.
Rather, according to these officials, the administration was aiming to create a positive dynamic that will lead to the relaunching of a Palestinian-Israeli diplomatic process, but this time with more regional players on board.
