Official: Azerbaijan not to be used as base to attack Iran

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev says his country will not be used as a military base for Israel and the US in any potential attack against Iran, Mehr News Agency reported Saturday.

Should Israel and the US attack Iran, the Azeri Republic will stay impartial in the conflict and will not allow its soil to be used against Iran, the foreign ministry spokesman said.

Abdullayev also expressed opposition to any adventurism against Iran, asking for a diplomatic resolution of the Western dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program.
