Israeli envoys set off for the US on Tuesday for talks meant to lay the groundwork for renewed Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking, officials said. Representatives of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak will meet on Wednesday with Washington's special Mideast envoy, George Mitchell, they said. Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat will hold separate talks with Mitchell later this week.
