One of two suspects in hit-and-run death released from house arrest

Shalom Yemini, one of two men suspected of killing Meital Aharonson in an October 2008 hit-and-run accident in Tel Aviv, will be released from daytime house arrest, Tel Aviv's District Court ruled Thursday. The decision was made after the state prosecution recently revised its indictment of the two, stating that it was Shai Simon who drove the car when it struck Aharonson, and not Yemini as initially believed. Yemini will remain under house arrest during nighttime hours. Simon and Yemini were speeding in the jeep that struck and killed Aharonson. Her friend, Meli Hame'iri-Yazdi, was also hit and suffered serious injuries.
