Only one-third of daily target of southern children actually vaccinated on first day

A total of 3,500 of the 150,000 children living in the south that the Health Ministry designated for vaccination with oral polio vaccine were indeed brought in by their parents to well-baby centers for the two drops on Monday, the first day of the one-month campaign.
The children were vaccinated in 67 settlements, towns and cities. This constitutes a little over two percent.
As there are some 25 working days in the month, the average number of children who would need to be vaccinated for the ministry to reach its target is 6,000. The ministry, which plans to provide such statistics daily, said the number was “expected.”
