Ousted Honduran president Zelaya boards flight home
Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya on Sunday boarded a flight to the capital city of Tegucigalpa, accompanied by the UN General Assembly president and a pack of journalists.
Thousands of protesters were gathering in the capital of Honduras in anticipation of Zelaya's showdown with the interim government, which has been in power since the army ousted him at week ago.
If the interim government succeeds in turning away Zelaya's flight, he will likely land in the Salvadoran capital.
Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa said the safety of Zelaya's flight could not be guaranteed. Correa is flying with the presidents of Argentina and Paraguay and the secretary-general of the Organization of American States on Tango One, the Argentine presidential plane, to El Salvador.ByREUTERS06/08/2025 07:57 AMByREUTERS06/08/2025 05:36 AMByMAARIV06/07/2025 02:33 PMByWALLA!06/07/2025 11:18 AMByREUTERS06/07/2025 03:25 AM
