Over 10,000 social workers begin open-ended strike

More than 10,000 social workers from the public sector launched an open-ended strike starting Sunday morning over the government’s failure to meet their demands for increased pay and improved work conditions.
In the wake of the strike, the country's welfare services opened a special committee to deal only with urgent cases, Army Radio reported Sunday.
More than 400 thousand families are expected to be personally affected by the strike.
