Palestinian hunger striker to be released in 8 months

Palestinian prisoner Samer Essawi agreed Tuesday to end his hunger strike in return for his release in eight months under conditions of an agreement with Israel, Israel Radio reported.
An outline of the agreement was formed and was set to be presented to the Ofer Military Court Tuesday, Essawi's lawyer Jawad Boulos said. Stipulations of the deal included Essawi's agreement to ingest vitamins to improve his medical condition, Boulos added.
Essawi was sentenced to 26 years in prison for his involvement in multiple shooting attacks. He was released among prisoners during the Gilad Schalit exchange, but a few months later he was arrested for violating conditions of  release, and began a hunger strike.
