Palestinians say Israel razed West Bank encampment

IDF troops tore down shacks, tents and greenhouses belonging to 19 Palestinian families in a West Bank encampment Thursday, displacing dozens of people, Palestinian officials said.
An Israeli official said troops took down 16 tents pitched in a military training zone, and that residents were ordered to leave for their own safety. However, inhabitants of the encampment said they have lived in the area for decades, that the military base is three kilometers away and that soldiers endangered them by coming near the village to train.
The encampment, Khirbet Ras al-Ahmar, is in the Jordan Valley, which runs along the eastern edge of the West Bank.
