Likud Minister Yossi Peled warned Thursday that settlement construction would continue if the Palestinians refused to come to the negotiation table. Speaking with The Jerusalem Post the morning after the Security Cabinet to imposed a ten-month moratorium on new construction permits in Judea and Samaria, Peled said, "It's very clear that we are freezing [new permits] for ten months to try and get the Palestinians back to the negotiating table." If the process remains deadlocked, he added, "we will return to regular building." Peled is a non-voting member of the security cabinet.
