Pelephone services down for millions of customers

Pelephone's 2.7 million mobile customers found themselves unable to use phone or texting services Monday.

In a note on its website, Pelephone said that some customers "may have disruptions in making and receiving calls." It said the problem was being addressed, and encouraged its customers to use wireless Internet in the meantime.

Israeli media reported that the outage resulted from an electrical short in its Petah Tikvah server farm, and that the company was working to reroute calls through its other infrastructure.

Monday's events aren't the first time the company experienced widespread technical difficulties In February of 2013, the company had a four-hour service cut on text messages and calls, though its data plans continued functioning.

In that situation, it promised customers compensation with free minutes or data.
