People with disabilities protest low disability allotments in Tel Aviv

A few dozen people with disabilities and supporters took to the streets in protest in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv on Thursday evening calling to equalize disability allotments with the minimum wage. To date, people with disabilities receive an allotment of some NIS 2,343 per month - less than half the minimum wage and barely enough to get by and live with dignity.
The protest follows a hunger strike last week in which some dozen people with disabilities, in collaboration with the action headquarters for the disabled, fasted for over a week to raise awareness of the low allotments.
