President Shimon Peres granted an early release to a Palestinian security prisoner suffering from a serious illness, following a recommendation to do so by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni.The prisoner, Muhammad Rafik Kamal Al-Tharaj, was originally sentenced to 14 years in prison for assisting terrorists, and served two-thirds of his sentence. The release was carried out with the approval of the security forces.Following Peres's signature on the release papers, Al-Tharaj, who is receiving medical care, will be released on humanitarian grounds.
