Peres: Lipkin-Shahak was, remains great fighter for Israel

Former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Amnon Lipkin-Shahak "fought and won," but never ceased searching for peace, President Shimon Peres said at his funeral on Thursday afternoon. "You were and you remain a great fighter for Israel."
Lipkin-Shahak, who passed away on Wednesday, was buried at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv.
Peres said that Lipkin-Shahak's always cared for the people of Israel and their future, even in his final moments.
Peres noted the control with which Lipkin-Shahak parted from him at the hospital, telling him that he had decided not to continue but "you must continue... until peace arrives."
