Peres made honorary citizen of Italian city, promotes peace

President Shimon Peres received honorary citizenship as a demonstration of peace from the Italian city of Assisi Wednesday during his visit to the country.
Peres was presented the honor during a festive celebration attended by hundreds of Franciscan monks.
"The leaders of all faiths can make a significant contribution to peace," Peres said addressing ceremony attendees. "Peace is the best solution against terrorism and threats - I have always believed in peace."
