Peres thanks Obama for 'unwavering commitment to Israeli security' in speech to Congress

President Shimon Peres spoke at the US Congress on Thursday in a ceremony in which he was honored with a Congressional Gold Medal for his friendship to the US.

Peres thanked the US for helping Israel "overcome small size in tough surroundings to become strong enough to take risks for peace."

"On behalf of all the people of Israel, I want to thank my friend and Israel’s friend, President Barack Obama, for standing by our side with an unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security," he added.
