Peres travels to Paris for peace related events

Former president Shimon Peres flew to Paris on Wednesday afternoon to meet with UNESCO officials and to participate in the signing of a cooperation agreement between UNESCO and the Peres Center for Peace.

He will also receive a special citation in recognition of his work to promote dialogue and prevent bloodshed through the Peres Center’s promotion of peace related projects.

Peres will also use the occasion to promote dialogue between the heads of the Jewish and Muslim communities and will ask them to jointly condemn terror.

His special efforts in this respect are against the backdrop of the most recent terrorist attacks in Turkey and Belgium and the widespread tensions resulting from such attacks.

Peres will also meet with peace activists and people who are battling BDS and anti-Semitism. His discussions will also focus on the effect that terrorism is having on Europe’s economy; and on out of the box thinking to educate towards peace and against terror.

Peres is due to return to Israel on Sunday.
