PM: Israel will act to defend itself independently

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed on Thursday Israel's willingness to act independently regarding a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, saying Israel's chief responsibility is to defend itself.
During an excerpt from an interview with Channel 1 news to be aired on Friday, Netanyahu said that while Israel is listening to the United States, and the concerns Washington has over potential military action against Iran, the US cannot decide for the prime minister how lethal the Iranian threat really is to Israel.
The prime minister explained that previous prime ministers, including David Ben-Gurion, Levi Eshkol and Menachem Begin had all carried out policy independent of American considerations during their terms, and the US-Israel bond was not damaged because of it.
