PM praises aid package to Gaza frontier towns, in Eshkol visit

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu attended a meeting of the Israeli General Staff at the Eshkol Regional Council on Sunday where he talked about the NIS 1.3 billion aid package for Gaza border towns passed in the Knesset on Sunday.
The aid is unprecedented in its scope, Netanyahu said, linking a strong economy and security.  "It is very easy to pass out promises to everyone, but it is much harder to manage a responsible policy."  "Throughout the years, we had a responsible budget and ran the economy properly," the prime minister said, adding that results were visible.
Even as the Israeli economy receives high ratings from international markets, the security threats facing the Jewish state demand an increase in the security budget, Netanyahu added.
"I am responsible for both the Israeli economy and the nation's security and these are the considerations I take into account when passing state budgets."
