PMO: PA using Hamdiya's death to fan flames

The Prime Minister's Office responded to Palestinian protests over the death of Hamdiya by saying that the Palestinian Authority was seeking to use his death to stir discontent.

"Unfortunately the Palestinian Authority is seeking to take advantage of the prisoner Hamdiya's death in order to escalate the situation," Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's spokesman to the Arabic press Ofer Gendelman wrote on his Twitter account.

Gendelman, accusing the PA of "hypocrisy," said that while Palestinian convicts in Israeli jails get top medical treatment and visits from the Red Cross, those who serve time in PA prisons get nothing."
