Police: Beduin who carried out Beersheba terror attack was in contact with Hamas

Muhand al-Uqbi, the Beduin man who carried out a terror attack at the Beersheba central bus station last week was in contact with Hamas for an extended period of time and the attack he carried out was planned, police revealed on Sunday.

Police describe in the new details of the attack cleared for publication on Sunday how al-Okabi entered the mall and began following IDF soldier Omri Levi. When Levi entered the bathroom at the bus station, Uqbi shot and killed him, taking his weapon, which he then began firing at other bystanders. He was then shot and killed by security forces on the scene.

Uqbi's phone was found to contain pictures of Hamas operatives, weapons and other materials. His brother is being investigated for failure to prevent a crime, because he knew that his brother had bought a gun and had began to hold an extremist ideology in relation to events at the Temple Mount, police added.
