Police detain 4 suspected of spray-painting pro-LGBT graffiti in Jerusalem

Police overnight between Wednesday and Thursday detained four young women suspected of vandalizing public property by spray-painting graffiti in support of the contested upcoming LGBT pride parade in the capital.
According to police, the women in their 30s spray-painted the walls of several buildings and locations along the march@@@s route.
When the women were detained, they told police they had carried out their actions to encourage people to attend the procession. Following police questioning, the detained women were released.
This year@@@s march comes the year after a 16-year-old was murdered by a religious zealot at the parade. The 2016 parade has been shrouded in controversy, as it commonly is each year, as various members of Jerusalem@@@s ultra-Orthodox and National-Zionist populations oppose the demonstration of gay rights.
