Police: Evidence to charge Nazareth District Court judge for sex crimes

There is evidence for the claims that the Chief Justice of the Nazareth District Court sexually assaulted a number of women, police said Thursday.
Police made the announcement on Thursday after finishing the investigation against Judge Yitzhak Cohen. Police said that will pass their findings on to the Central District Prosecutor’s office for the two cases which are still within their statute of limitations.
On Tuesday Cohen announced he would be going on a voluntary “early vacation” as an investigation into his possible involvement in a series of sex crimes is pending.
The judge informed Justice Minister Tzipi Livni of his decision to take his vacation early after Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein said he was considering opening a criminal investigation into Cohen.
Cohen was considered a possible candidate for a position on the Supreme Court, though experts do not think he would be one of the top few contenders.
Cohen did not announce when he would return to the bench, but has denied the allegations, calling them "baseless."
