There is enough evidence to suggest criminal wrongdoing in an assault complaint against Likud MK Oren Hazan, police said Tuesday.
The announcement came as police said they finished their probe into the allegation that Hazan attacked Ariel Mayor Eliyahu Shaviro in 2014 before he became a parliamentarian, during an argument over a debt Hazan owed to the municipality. Police said that in the coming days they will pass on their findings to state prosecutors, who will decide how to proceed.
Police said they questioned a number of people of interest in the case, including Hazan, who was questioned under caution earlier in August at the LAHAV 433 headquarters in Lod.
The allegation is one of a series of controversies against the first-time parliamentarian, including most notably a report from Ch. 2 in June that stated that while he managed a casino in Burgas, Bulgaria, he also procured prostitutes and crystal meth for Israeli tourists.
Hazan has denied the allegations.
