Police preparing for 180,000 strong pride parade

Around 180,000 people are expected to party in central Tel Aviv Friday for the annual Gay Pride Parade, and police will deploy in force to secure the event and redirect traffic in the notoriously congested city.

Police said Thursday that as of 11:30 there will be a number of roads shut down to traffic in the city. Bograshov street will be closed in both directions from King George to Ben Yehuda, Marmorek will be closed from Ibn Gvirol to Rothschild Boulevard, Arlozorov Street will be closed from Ibn Gvirol to Hayarkon, Ben Yehuda will be closed entirely from Allenby to Dizengoff, Allenby will be closed from the Moshavot Square to Herbert Samuel, and roads will be closed in Jaffa, including a large portion of Jerusalem Boulevard.

The march will begin at noon after a party a Gan Meir on King George. It will then make its way down Bograshov to Yarkon Street and Frishman and then south on Herbert Samuel along the seaside until Charles Clore Park, where a party will be held until nightfall.

Tel Aviv police said Thursday that no parking will be allowed along the parade route from 7am on and any cars parked on the route will be towed.
