Police recommend that former IDF chief Ashkenazi be indicted in Harpaz Affair

Police announced Tuesday that they had recommended to the State Attorney's Office to indict former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi in the Harpaz forged document affair.
The Harpaz Affair refers to an alleged 2010 plot by Lt.-Col.(res.) Boaz Harpaz, and possibly others, to illegally undermine then-defense minister Ehud Barak’s choice to succeed Gabi Ashkenazi as IDF chief of staff, as part of a more general battle between Barak and Ashkenazi involving both sides allegedly spying and spreading misinformation about the other.
Police claim that Ashkenazi failed to inform them of the existence of a forged document that came into his possession meant to influence the decision of who would succeed Ashkenazi.
The State Attorney will now have to decide whether to accept the police recommendation and indict Ashkenazi.
