Policeman killed in Jordan Valley car crash

A policeman was killed and one person was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Route 90 on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when a truck lost control and a load it was carrying flipped on its side, slamming into two police cars, police said.
"The accident was likely caused by high-speed driving [on the part of the truck driver," a police spokeswoman added.
The policeman, named as First.-Seargeant Major Yitzhak Elbaz, was a detective with the Jerusalem police district's central unit.
A second policeman who was seriously injured was airlifted to hospital A third person was lightly injured.
The highway was blocked off in both directions as paramedics went into operation on the scene.
