Poll: 69% of public thinks Katsav got a fair trial

69 percent of the public believes that former president Moshe Katsav, who was convicted of rape and sexual assault, received a fair trial, according to a Panels poll conducted by the Knesset Channel on Thursday.
According to the poll, 20% said the trial was unfairly conducted. Of those surveyed, 49% said they believed that the final verdict was influenced by media coverage of the case, and 44% said they did not see such influence coming from press.
The Supreme Court upheld a Tel Aviv District Court ruling in which the former president will serve a seven-year prison sentence on rape and sexual assault charges.
