Portugal also proposes bill to grant citizenship for Sephardic Jews

Portugal followed Spanish footsteps in proposing a bill that would grant Jews of Sephardic descent citizenship 500 years after their expulsion from both countries, announced Israel Radio on Saturday.
Minister of Tourism Adolfo Meskita said that the final stages of passing the bill are now in the works and are waiting to be approved by the government in Lisbon.
The proposed Spanish bill to grant passports to Jews of Sephardic descent has passed its first government voting stages and awaits a further two votes before being approved as law.
