Postal strike to hit trade, national insurance, Justice Ministry

The Histadrut on Tuesday will add new sanctions in its battle over the Israel Postal company, closing National Insurance services, disrupting goods flowing through ports, and shuttering the Justice Ministry. It will also continue to prevent foreign mail from entering the country.
Over the past few weeks, the Histadrut has alternated its sanctions through different ministries and government services, starting and stopping services from day-to-day.
The dispute is over the fates of 1,500 full-time workers at the company that the government would like to fire and replace with contract workers. The postal company has been consistently unprofitable, and the move is among a series of steps aimed at pulling it out of the red.
