Poway synagogue had just received money to improve security

The Chabad synagogue in Poway, California that was attacked on Saturday had received a $150,000 federal grant to install gates and increase security, according to the Associated Press.
The synagogue had applied for the grant last September but was only granted the money in March and had not yet been able to use the money to increase security, according to the report.
