Several of those employed in the news and actuality department of the Israel Broadcasting Authority who have contracted with the new Israel Broadcasting Corporation do not know what their futures will be because they hold more than one job at the IBA.
One of those is Vered Yiftachi Green, who covers several news beats for Israel Radio and also hosts a music program and signed on with IBC very early in the transition period with the understanding that she would remain an employee of the IBA until its demise, scheduled for next week.
In the interim, however, it appears that the IBA’s news division will function as an autonomous entity under the umbrella of the IBC, but not be responsible to it. So, Yiftachi Green has no knowledge as to whether she has two masters or will have to forfeit one of her positions.
Meanwhile, Kan, the IBC’s broadcasting outlet, announced on Sunday that Sharon Wexler, the longtime Channel One weather forecaster, had joined the IBC. This time, the IBC did not add the customary corollary “in the making” after its title, but the press release was headed: “An optimistic forecast.”
