Recruits may lose foreign citizenship if they serve in IDF

Individuals with dual citizenship from certain countries like Spain are being asked to sign a document in the IDF in which they declare their understanding that their service in the army may result in loss of their foreign citizenship, reported Israel Radio Sunday.
The individuals are also being asked to recognize that they may be punished for their service in the IDF by the other countries of which they hold citizenship.
Army recruits were told that signing the document was a procedure of the IDF, and that those who were not willing to sign, would not be able to join the army.
The IDF spokesman said that in accordance with Spanish law, citizenship can be revoked from those who join the IDF.
