Report: Beduin gunmen attack Egyptian police checkpoint in Sinai

An Egyptian police checkpoint in the Sinai Peninsula was attacked by at least three Beduin gunmen on Thursday evening, according to security sources quoted by Reuters. Requesting not to be named, the sources said that no police officers were injured in the attack, which took place approximately 40km from the Suez Canal. One of the sources was quoted in the report as saying that one of the attackers died in hospital following a firefight which ensued, while another was quoted as saying that three additional Beduin assailants had fled the scene in a truck.
